LIVINGSTON, NJ - National Night Out, a nationwide event held annually on the first Tuesday in August, will be held on August 4, at 5:30 p.m., at Memorial Oval in Livingston. The public is invited to attend.

This year, a wide variety of law enforcement groups will join Livingston Police Department, with games, activities, give-away items, food and a Livingston Fire Department wet-down. Guests will see McGriff the Crime Dog, watch helicopters land, and receive free souvenir photo booth photos from Step it Up Events. McGruff the Crime Dog will be posing for photos with Step It Up Events at the open photo booth from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

In addition, with children's activities courtesy of the West Essex YMCA, children will play on inflatables and mechanical rides, and have the opportunity to play video game at the Rolling Video Games truck. The evening will end with the large-screen outdoor family movie on the Oval, beginning at dusk.

“This fun and informative family event is designed to strengthen our neighborhoods through police-community partnerships,” according to an event representative. “Adults, children, and teens will become more aware of ways to prevent crime and drug abuse, build support and participate in local anti-crime programs. Most importantly, National Night Out represents the kind of spirit, energy and determination that's helping to make many neighborhoods safer places to live. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors better.”

In case of rain, the event will be held inside Livingston High School. Let's get ready Livingston to Step It Up!
